Fond childhood memories revolve around the drive in movie, Green Acres on Mayor Magrath Drive to be specific. We'd all hop into the car; Mom, Dad, Jeannie, Robert, Shirley, Ronnie and Allan! We were allowed to play in the theatre's playground until it got dark then the rule was to run back to the car prior to the show starting. Dad said we could have one treat and one drink....and "that's it". He'd go alone or we'd tag along to make sure he got it right! Of course by the time you were around 12 yrs old, you made sure you DIDN'T go into the snack bar with Dad, heaven forbid....HOW EMBARRASSING!!
When would the movie ever get started? Will I be awake long enough to watch them, they were always double features? What if I have to pee? Could I talk Ron into trading some of his treat with me? Who's this snoring on my shoulder and where did this wet come from? "Mom, Allan opened his mouth and showed me his chewed chips"!! "Allan, leave Shirley alone and watch the show!"
Who can forget those intermission ads?? I'd wake up just long enough to watch them, TRY to talk Dad into an ice cream sandwich and then fall back to sleep! Yawn..........
Oh no, he forgot to hang up the speaker.....AGAIN!!
BRILLIANT!!
