Celluloid Charms: Nekko Cats
The Significance of the Raised Paw
The cat charm on the left is the more rare of the two....glad to have it for my collection!!
There’s actually a meaning behind which paw the cat is holding up. If it's the left paw, this is supposed to attract customers. If the right paw is raised, this invites good fortune and money. They both sound pretty good to me, which is why sometimes you can find a Fortune Cat with both of its paws in the air. Two paws up can also represent protection.

Celluloid Charm: Rare Betty Boop
Max Fleischer (July 19, 1883 – September 11, 1972) was an American animator, inventor, film director and producer.
Fleischer was a pioneer in the development of the animated cartoon and served as the head of Fleischer Studios. He brought such animated characters as Betty Boop, Koko the Clown, Popeye, and Superman to the movie screen and was responsible for a number of technological innovations such as the Rotoscope
Born to a Jewish family in Kraków,[6] then part of the Austrian-Hungarian province of Galicia, Max Fleischer was the second oldest of six children of an Austrian immigrant tailor, William Fleischer. His family emigrated to the USA in 1887 and settled in New York City, where he attended public school; he spent his formative years in Brownsville and Brooklyn. He attended Evening High School, received commercial art training at Cooper Union, and also attended The Mechanics and Tradesman's School. While still in his teens, he worked for The Brooklyn Daily Eagle as an errand boy, and eventually became a cartoonist. It was during this period he met newspaper cartoonist and early animator, John Randolph Bray. He married his childhood sweetheart, Ethel (Essie) Gold on December 25, 1905. Shortly afterward he accepted an illustrator's job for a catalog company in Boston. He returned to New York as Art Editor for Popular Science magazine around 1912; he also wrote books, including one called Noah's Shoes

Celluloid Charm: Asian Idol
I see these charms around quite often. There are seven lucky gods in the asian tradition, each has a traditional attribute:
1.Hotei, the fat and happy god of abundance and good health
2.Jurōjin, god of long life
3.Fukurokuju, god of happiness, wealth and longevity
4.Bishamonten, god of warriors
5.Benzaiten (Benten-sama), goddess of knowledge, art and beauty, especially music
6.Daikokuten (Daikoku), god of wealth, commerce and trade. Ebisu and Daikoku are often paired and represented as carvings or masks on the walls of small retail shops
7.Ebisu, god of fishers or merchants, often depicted carrying a sea bream
Well there you have it....all I know is I'm happy to have a set of my own...finally :) ,
